The YSI 2900 Analyser is a useful tool for the measurement of ethanol levels in beer.
The 2900 Analyser from YSI, as well as being applied for measuring glucose during beer fermentation and brewing, may also be used to measure the ethanol levels.
During the fermentation process, yeast converts glucose in the starch source - normally cereal grains such as malted barley - to ethyl alcohol and carbon dioxide gas, giving beer both its alcohol content and carbonation over an approximate period of two weeks.
Alcohol-free or low-alcohol beer starts out as regular alcoholic beer, which is then put through a further process, typically cooking the beer to evaporate the alcohol.
The YSI 2900 is the ideal tool for testing samples during the fermentation of beer, as it is designed to give accurate, rapid results, in one minute or less, using proven biosensor probe technology with the company’s immobilised enzymes.
