We see from your search that you're looking for information on the term "Cholesterol", and we have a large number of manufacturers' news releases and technical articles here on Laboratorytalk which will be of interest. Let me be your guide.

Start with the news release Full lipoprotein profiling service from Randox Laboratories, which we summarised at the time by saying "As the incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is rising, it is becoming more and more important to assess risk factors for CVD, to reduce the incidence and mortality of the disease". A few weeks before, we featured the news release Cholesterol - the good, the bad and the ugly from Randox Laboratories: "HDL (the good), LDL (the bad) and sdLDL (the ugly) cholesterol tests are now available from Randox as direct clearance methods for fully automated clinical chemistry analysers".

In August 2007, we covered the news from Randox Laboratories concerning its Randox direct sd LDL measurement - take a look at Quantitative detection of sd LDL cholesterol which says: "The Randox direct sd LDL measurement is fully automated, saving time and labour costs and gives quantitative sdLDL values, that will enable treatment optimisation".

Take a look also at the news release from Santaris Pharma, Development of the first microRNA medicine, as well as VTT spins-off Zora Biosciences from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, and Biomarkers are 'medical tool of the future' from Medical Research Council (MRC).
