Explosion proof EX servomotors for volatile atmospheres
Micromech
Micromech has introduced the EX Series servomotors for explosive atmospheres.
The EX series is a range of 1,75 to 35Nm permanent magnet synchronous servomotor designed for use in explosive atmospheres.
They are available with explosion proof housings CE or UL versions but still have the advantage of a high dynamic performance, compact, and bearings greased for life.
Flange mounted with smooth holes, a solid smooth shaft as standard and an option of a solid shaft with key.
They have a wide speed range of 2000 to 8000 rpm, voltage supply 230 / 400 VAC 230/ 480 VAC with thermal protection which include thermoswitches and thermofuses integrated to the windings.
The standard feedback sensor is a two-pole resolver with options available of Absolute EnDat or Absolute Hiperface encoder.
EX servomotors are group II, category 2, explosion-proof apparatus designed to operate in explosive atmospheres in accordance with EN 50014 standard.
These servomotors are certified according to ATEX 94/9/CE directive EN60079-0, EN60079-1, EN61241-0 and EN61241-1. Two models are on offer, a gas version II2 G EEx d IIB T4, IP64 (Gas) a motor for gaseous atmospheres.
This motor is not fitted with a lip seal at the shaft end. The second is a Gas/Dust version II2 GD EEx d IIB T4, IP65 Ex tD A21,
IP65 T135°C, (Gas and dust) Class 1, Division 1, Group C & D, Ingress protection level IP64 (standard), IP65 (option) IP65 motor for dusty, gaseous atmospheres. This motor is fitted with a lip seal at the shaft end.
EX servomotors can be used for all applications in explosive atmospheres such as chemical, petro-chemical, pharmaceutical industries and waste processing plants.
Typical uses will be spray paint booths and systems, robotics applications, pumping and metering, lifting and manipulating printing and plastics machinery.
