Universal instrument interfacing becomes
reality
Software neatly solves the problem of downloading data from the multitude of different manufacturers - each with their own 'standard' - to a PC
Interfacing instruments from different manufacturers to your computer system is easy with WinWedge It's bad enough that measuring instrument manufacturers all have their own ways of presenting output data in terms of its format

It's even more irritating that if you have to deal with a range of instruments, old and new, they probably all have their own connector formats too.
So how do you set up a way of connecting instruments to your computer system which is flexible enough not to restrict the instruments you can use? The answer is to use the 'classic' interface, the RS232 port, and software which can convert whatever format the instrument manufacturers choose to provide their data in, to whatever format is most desirable for your computer system.
That software is WinWedge, a versatile application which is used in labs, on the shop floor, and in process industries worldwide.
WinWedge is essentially a fully configurable serial device driver that allows you to input data from any instrument with an RS232 interface directly into any application program.
It works, ingeniously, by tricking your computer into treating the serial port as a second keyboard.
It also parses and filters your data and executes additional keystrokes, so you collect only the data you want in an appropriate format for your application.
Even better, the software offers full two-way serial communication, so it can send commands, for example to prompt your device for a reading, to completely automate your data collection.
So if you need to collect data from scales and balances, gauges, pH/electrochemistry meters, laboratory instruments, sensors, densitometers, GPS receivers, barcode scanners, magnetic stripe readers, ID tag readers, telephone systems, or indeed any RS232 instruments, WinWedge not only provides an interface, but it gives you the flexibility to handle a wide range of devices, present and future.
What's more, the data can be formatted not only for existing applications, but for future ones too.
WinWedge is supplied and supported in the UK and Ireland by Adept Scientific. Request a free brochure from Adept Scientific ...
