The RNA 6000 Nano LabChip kit for the automated quality control of total and messenger RNA (mRNA) from Agilent is said to be a significant improvement on the existing kit

The RNA 6000 Nano LabChip kit is designed for use with the Agilent 2100 bioanalyser, which is regarded by many as the industry standard for the quality control of RNA samples, especially in the context of microarray experiments The RNA 6000 Nano LabChip kit is a significant enhancement of the current, widely accepted RNA 6000 kit

The kit now contains a lower marker, which allows for sample alignment and permits easy comparison of samples, enabling researchers to distinguish different types of mRNA based on the electrophoretic traces.

Most importantly, the RNA 6000 Nano LabChip kit now provides enhanced RNA quantitation simultaneous with the assessment of RNA quality.

Now, researchers can forego, in many cases, UV or ribogreen measurements and get both quality control as well as a good concentration measurement in one single analysis.

Relative standard deviations of 10% can be achieved, while the method is much less susceptible than UV to sample contaminants such as phenol or genomic DNA.

The new kit allows detection of total RNA down to 5ng with the speed and accuracy that only LabChip technology offers.

Digital data management and a series of improved software features further strengthen the benefits of the Agilent 2100 bioanalyser for the analysis of RNA samples.
