Agilent Technologies and Caliper Technologies introduce the Protein 200 Plus LabChip kit for automated sizing and analysis of proteins, offering enhanced capability over the existing kit

The enhanced kit is designed for use with the Agilent 2100 bioanalyser, which can also be used to analyse RNA, DNA and cells in combination with application-specific LabChip kits This kit has significantly enhanced features over the current Protein 200 LabChip kit in terms of capability and ease of use

New internal markers and a new ladder have a substantially higher stability, resulting in three major areas of improvements: all reagents, including ladder and marker, are now combined into a single kit; the sample buffer is now pre-mixed and ready to use, reducing the number of experimental steps, decreasing analysis time and improving reproducibility; and the combined reagents are less expensive, reducing cost per analysis by approximately 20%.

The Protein 200 Plus LabChip kit sizes and quantitates proteins with molecular weights from 14 to 200kDa.

Each chip is designed to run ten protein samples in less than 30 minutes.

The kit is primarily used to determine recombinant protein expression levels in cell lysates, to optimise protein purification processes and to control the quality of antibodies.

A new feature in the Agilent 2100 bioanalyser software enhances the capability of the Protein 200 Plus LabChip kit by enabling absolute protein quantitation with user-defined calibration standards.

Information such as size, purity, quality and concentration can be obtained in a single analysis.

Reduced analysis times, compared to conventional protein analysis, combined with reliable and reproducible results provide researchers the support needed for disease identification and drug discovery efforts.
