Biological oxygen monitor is as
essential as air
Ideal as a research tool, the monitor is more sensitive than conventional gas phase manometric systems and utilises the respected Clark-type polarographic oxygen probes
Research laboratories rely on basic, hard-working equipment in order to produce consistently high standards of data The YSI 5300A biological oxygen monitor from Analytical Technologies is one such piece of equipment

Ideal as a research tool, the monitor is more sensitive than conventional gas phase manometric systems and utilises the respected Clark-type polarographic oxygen probes.
The monitor provides simultaneous dual-sample testing and is versatile enough to cater for samples ranging from µl to ml.
The 5300A measures oxygen consumption and evolution in a variety of samples including respiration, oxidative activity and cellular metabolism studies, producing data curves in a speedy two to 15 minutes.
Particular features include batch and flow-through modes for micro samples, easy addition of inhibitors and activators during experiments, and two digital displays and recorder outputs for the simultaneous run of dual experiments.
The recorder outputs even enable the operator to plot the differential of the two channels.
The compact 5300A also includes a zero-oxygen calibration offset for improved sample accuracy and the self-explanatory dials make operation quick and simple.
The standard system measures samples from 3 to 8ml and the micro system measures a fixed volume of 600µl.
However, a micro adapter kit is also available, allowing the standard system volume to be reduced to 1ml.
High sensitivity membranes, as well as standard membranes are readily available.
All systems come complete with bath, probes and related supplies and the dual RS-232 ports and analog outputs cater for data logging.
In addition, recirculating water baths and chart recorders are also available from Analytical Technologies, providing a complete solution for any laboratory's requirements.
