Sebia UK hosts electrophoresis seminars
Over 130 delegates from hospital laboratories around the country recently attended two one-day seminars held by Sebia UK at Studley Castle
The electrophoresis seminars featured a programme accredited for the IBMS continuing professional development (CPD) scheme which included an introduction to capillary electrophoresis and curve interpretation.
Guest speakers Craig Webster from Heart of England Foundation Trust and Sue Martin from Kingston Hospital NHS Trust were invited to relate their experiences using the fully automated Capillarys system within a routine clinical laboratory.
Other sessions examined serum and urine immunotyping using capillary electrophoresis, new isoelectric focussing gel techniques for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and alpha 1-antitrypsin (A1AT) phenotyping along with high-resolution gel immunofixation.
The new aid to interpretation software Neurosoft was introduced for the first time for users of Capillarys 2.
The event was well received with delegates commenting that it had been very informative and educational and how they were pleased to see a Capillarys 2 instrument in action.
These seminars form part of an ongoing initiative by Sebia UK to support customers and help clinical laboratory personnel make best use of their professional skills.
