Position paper on laboratory
accreditation
The board of directors of the American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL) has given final approval to a new laboratory accreditation position statement
This position paper was prepared by the Acil Accreditation Body subcommittee chaired by Milton Bush 'Blueprint for success in the 21st century: an international system for laboratory accreditation' reaffirms the elements and types of programmes incorporated in Acil's first position paper on this subject published in the early 1990s
The past decade has seen the globalisation of conformity assessment and an international effort to establish consensus policies and procedures for the recognition of accreditation bodies, both on a regional and international level.
'Blueprint' defines the elements and responsibilities necessary for these bodies to function in an effective and efficient manner.
The position paper is attached to this press release and may be viewed on the Acil website.
