RedShift Systems assigns UK distributor

An Armstrong Optical product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Feb 22, 2007

RedShift Systems of the USA, a supplier of low cost thermal imaging systems, has appointed Armstrong Optical of Northants, UK as its distributor for the UK and Ireland

Benefiting from new, patented, developments spun-out from the telecommunications industry, RedShift Systems is establishing a key position in the field of thermal imaging around its Thermal Light Valve (TLV) technology.

The RedShift 1160 is a long wavelength infrared camera engine designed to allow OEMs the quickly introduce an affordable, high-performance thermal camera into their product lines.

Combined with off-the-shelf CMOS image sensors and using RedShift Systems integration expertise, the TLV enables thermal imaging at a fraction of the cost of competing microbolometer, amorphous silicon and ferroelectric sensors.

Use of the low cost RedShift 1160 opens up many emerging mass market applications such as Security and Surveillance - affordable imaging in complete darkness and all weather conditions; firefighting and law enforcement - low cost puts thermal imaging into the hands of every first-responder; automotive - low cost enables mass market vehicle penetration.
