Amersham Biosciences introduces CyDye Dige fluor labelling kits for scarce samples, enabling the labelling and comparison of as little as 5ug of sample material using Ettan Dige system The new labelling kit extends Amersham Biosciences's existing CyDye Dige fluor range of dyes available for prelabelling proteins prior to 2-D electrophoresis

Designed specifically for small amounts of sample, which had not previously been possible, the new labelling kit allows customers to use 2-D Dige methodology for the analysis of minute protein abundance differences.

"Customers in all proteomics facilities, whether they work in pharmaceutical, academia or fledgling biotech, can now conduct a full experiment with scarce samples," explained Alan Livingston, strategic marketing director, protein profiling, Amersham Biosciences.

"The new CyDye Dige fluor labelling kit for scarce samples also reduces sample preparation time for techniques such as laser capture microdissection as much as tenfold.

"With the introduction of the new labelling kit, 2-D Dige is now available to anyone carrying out proteomics research".

The kit includes two different dyes for labelling the cysteine residues of a protein mixture prior to 2-D electrophoretic separation using conventional 2-D equipment.

Working seamlessly with Amersham Biosciences's Typhoon imager and DeCyder differential analysis software, protein abundance differences between each scarce sample can be accurately measured on the same gel.
