New GE healthcare unit to focus on understanding disease at the molecular level, detecting conditions earlier and enabling therapies that are tailored to a patient

General Electric will host a teleconference on Thursday 8 April 2004 to discuss the company's acquisition of Amersham, a world leader in diagnostic pharmaceuticals and life sciences The combination of GE Medical Systems and Amersham establishes the new GE Healthcare unit, which is uniquely suited to shape a new age of medical care - one that enables healthcare to move from after-the-fact treatment to before-the-onset care

During the teleconference, Joseph Hogan and Dan Peters will discuss GE Healthcare's focus on understanding disease at the molecular level, detecting conditions such as heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer's earlier and more specifically, and enabling therapies that are tailored to a patient.
