GE offers albumin/IgG depletion columns

A GE Healthcare product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team May 20, 2009

GE Healthcare has launched HiTrap Albumin, IgG Depletion and Albumin, and IgG Depletion SpinTrap pre-packed columns, for the depletion of albumin and IgG from human serum and plasma.

Both columns have high depletion capacity, removing >95 per cent albumin and >90 per cent IgG.

Very high reproducibility is achieved, for parallel sample preparation.

Separations are simple and fast, taking approximately 35 minutes to complete with the HiTrap column, for larger sample volumes (150ul), and approximately 10 minutes with the SpinTrap column, for smaller sample volumes (50ul).

The HiTrap column may be used for a limited number of repeat runs, with consistent depletion rates.

The columns are pre-packed with a mixture of anti-HSA Sepharose High-Performance and Protein G Sepharose High-Performance, in a medium consisting of highly cross-linked agarose beads with covalently immobilised affinity ligands.

Samples are processed through the HiTrap column using a liquid chromatography system, such as Akta, and a peristaltic pump - or manually using a syringe, and through the SpinTrap column using a tabletop centrifuge.
