ALA announces innovation award winner

The Association for Laboratory Automation (ALA) has announced the winner of the Lab Automation 2010 USD10,000 (GBP6,300) ALA Innovation Award.

Ali Khademhosseini, Harvard-Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was honoured for his podium presentation - 'Microengineered hydrogels for tissue engineering and stem-cell bioengineering'.

The winner was announced during the closing plenary session at Lab Automation 2010.

The conference, which was held 23-27 January, 2010, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, played host to over 4,000 participants from across the globe.

The ALA Innovation Award recognises the year's top candidates, who present innovative laboratory technologies or new, useful technological advances and applications as a podium presentation.

The top candidates for the ALA Innovation Award will travel to present their work at Achem Asia, 2-5 June, 2010, in Beijing, China.
