LED array illuminates a brighter future
AP Technologies announces the international release of the latest generation of Opto Diode's range of metal reflector array (MRA) technology
Featuring an all-new platform these latest products build further on the key advantages of the MRA technology with a significant increase in optical efficiency along with a narrower beam angle of 40deg FWHM As a result of these latest advances the new 60-die configuration offers radiant intensities in the region of five times the original 99-die 110deg device and twice that if the 99-die 70deg unit but with only 60% of the power consumption and 60% of the heatload

30mW DC power output at 470nm wavelength and 120 degree emission angle, with a high thermal conductivity package allowing low working temperatures
The new 040 series has a 33x38mm footprint and is only 2mm high.
S with previous versions a single, easy-to-mount device with only two leads can replace arrays of hundreds of moulded LEDs, giving system designer the opportunity to dramatically reduce size, or to increase power within a given area.
A full range of standard wavelengths from UV (405nm) to NIR (870nm) is offered and the use of standard LED die means that application specific solutions can be quickly and cost-effectively developed.
Applications for MRA devices include fluorescence stimulation and covert illumination such as automatic number plate recognition.
