Taking consultancy to Japan
Expansion of successful molecular interaction characterisation consulting service takes SPR expertise and knowledge from USA to Japan
Biacore has announced the expansion of its contract consulting service that provides direct customer access to its expertise and knowledge in chip-based SPR technology for molecular interaction studies Following the successful launch of Research Consulting Services (RCS) in the USA last year, this valuable service has now been launched in Japan

High performance SPR-based research system for studying biomolecular interactions has been made more powerful through the incorporation of increased capacity recovery
Like RCS, Japan's Contract Analysis Services (CAS) can provide additional expert SPR resources to research teams where over capacity issues arise, as is often the case when prioritising high value targets and compounds.
In addition these services can deliver rapid, detailed results for one-off projects requiring answers to molecular interaction questions that no other single technique can answer.
According to Eiji Takagi, president of Biacore KK, "The launch of our new contract analysis service has been well received by both pharmaceutical industry and academic customers alike.

The unique ability to directly exploit the capabilities of our scientists to design and perform reliable and quality SPR-based experiments in a wide variety of applications is already proving extremely beneficial to many researchers in Japan." Lance Laing, director of Biosensors, Regenesis Bioremediation Products, who has been productively using the consultancy service for the past year to assist in the development of a hand-held field biosensor to detect toxins also explains, "Biacore has really helped us to gain maximum benefits from its SPR based assays.
Through RCS we are able to draw directly on Biacore's many years of experience in this field to help us to quickly and accurately interpret our data as well as develop our products." Committed entirely to identifying, characterising and promoting understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of molecules, data generated from Biacore's chip-based SPR assays can be employed in a wide range of applications in basic research, drug discovery and food analysis.
Such applications include: active concentration determination; affinity and kinetic measurements; and screening of proteins, drugs and small molecules.
In order to deliver rapid and accurate answers to such applications through Biacore's contract consulting service, the company ensures that the researcher receives discussions with a Biacore scientist and a detailed analysis of the project, a complete project plan based on the project objectives will be proposed, completion of the project in the most efficient and rapid approach, results presented in a comprehensive project report, Biacore expertise and commitment to characterising the most difficult binding interaction.
