Software for high-throughput automation
of DNA

Beckman Coulter introduces a new software program for the Biomek FX liquid handling system, automating DNA quantitation and normalisation in 96- and 384-well formats

Quantitation and normalisation of DNA samples improve the quality of the DNA sequencing data generated from the samples, but the normalisation process is tedious to perform manually and is often skipped altogether The Biomek FX now automatically performs the tedious steps, taking as little as two minutes to set up the quantitation process for DNA in either 96- or 384-well formats

Normalisation can be achieved in less than seven minutes in the 96-well format, and less than 20 minutes in the 384-well plate format.

A built-in data collector capability quantitates DNA sample concentrations by reading sample and standard plates with either a Spectramax 190 or a Fluostar Galaxy reader.

Collected data is transferred to an Excel spreadsheet for normalisation calculations.

The new normalisation wizard software then generates the appropriate Biomek FX method to automatically perform the tedious well-by-well pipetting to create a normalised copy of the sample plate.

"This user-friendly software complements our existing solutions for nucleic acid preparation on the Biomek FX," explains Peter Louie, strategic market manager for Beckman Coulter. Request a free brochure from Beckman Coulter ...
