Multimode detectors are first in line
Can operate as standalone instruments or can be integrated seamlessly with liquid handlers, and are said to be ideal for a broad range of systems biology applications
Beckman Coulter announces two new multimode detectors, the first in a line of products to combine absorbance, fluorescence and luminescence detection in one instrument, for maximum flexibility.
The DTX series detectors can operate as standalone instruments or can be integrated seamlessly with Beckman Coulter's Biomek liquid handlers and are said to be ideal for a broad range of systems biology applications including drug discovery, genomics, proteomics and cell-based research.
The DTX series's optics design (patents pending) ensures precise performance and sensitivity across all detection modes.
The instruments offer a choice of plate loading options including accepting plates in portrait or landscape formats.
The detectors feature an extra-wide plate access door to facilitate easy integration with automated liquid handling systems.
The new instruments are offered in two models.
The DTX 800 features fluorescence intensity (top reading), absorbance (visible) and glow luminescence for 96- to 384-well plates; while the DTX 880 features fluorescence intensity (top and bottom reading), time-resolved fluorescence, fluorescence polarisation, absorbance (UV and visible), glow luminescence and temperature control for six- to 1536-well plates.
The detector's software platform will provide instrument control and easy protocol development as well as compatibility with Beckman Coulter's Biomek and Sami software programs.
"The new DTX series multimode detectors provide our customers with unmatched performance, flexibility and value", explains Matt Maloney, product manager for Beckman Coulter.
"The new detectors also provide valuable application functionality in our ProteomeLab, GenomeLab and Cell Lab families of products".
