First specially designed rotor will spin 6x500ml at 10,000rpm, ideal for clarifying lysates, separating tissue homogenates and pelleting bacteria and tissue culture cells

Beckman Coulter announces an agreement with Piramoon Technologies, manufacturer of Fiberlite rotors, creating a partnership for the development of carbon fibre rotors for Avanti series high-performance centrifuges.

The first specially designed rotor will spin 6x500ml at 10,000rpm, ideal for clarifying lysates, separating tissue homogenates and pelleting bacteria and tissue culture cells.

The Fiberlite rotors are attractive to customers who want fully composite, lightweight rotors, says Beckman Coulter.

The two companies will work together to design rotors specifically for Beckman Coulter centrifuges, to ensure maximum performance and safety.

Beckman Coulter will sell the rotors and retain the Fiberlite branding.

"We've created this partnership in response to market demand," comments Philip Hutcherson, product manager for Beckman Coulter.

"Through this agreement, these special Fiberlite rotors, when used in Avanti centrifuge systems, will deliver the highest level of performance, customer convenience and safety, providing a new choice for customers".

"Advanced carbon fibre composite materials are lighter and provide ease-of-use advantages over traditional metal rotors," said Al Piramoon, president and CEO of Fiberlite.

"This partnership will introduce our technology to a much larger market segment".

Fiberlite designs, produces and markets centrifuge instruments and rotors from carbon fibre materials.
