Freeze drying microscope for Brazilian university
Researchers at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil have recently purchased a Lyostat2 freeze drying microscope from freeze-drying expert Biopharma Technology
Professor Ronaldo Pitombo, at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, took delivery of the Lyostat2 earlier this year.
Biopharma's own David Banks carried out training and the installation of the instrument into the university's Heart Institute.
The Institute is investigating the effects of lyophilization on bovine pericardium.
Lyostat2 is designed to enable quick and easy identification of key lyophilization parameters, such as eutectic and collapse temperatures, and was an ideal choice to assist the Institute with their research.
Lyostat2 is compact enough to fit onto any laboratory bench-top, but is packed with features.
Its functions include displaying and recording temperature and vacuum readings, providing a live image of the sample to be viewed on the screen.
Data archiving, profile plotting and image gallery capabilities enable easy analysis and comparison.
This is the first such system to be installed in the whole of South America.
While in Brazil, Banks also took time out to meet with Biopharma's new Brazilian agent Lodan.
