Plastic-coated glassware for rotary evaporator

A Bibby Scientific product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Feb 1, 2002

Bibby Sterilin has extended its range of rotary evaporators with the introduction of three new models featuring plastic-coated glassware, which it says offers major safety advantages

With specifications which easily exceed the requirements of both British and international standards for quality assurance, the world renowned Quickfit glassware range is used with all Bibby Sterilin's rotary evaporators.

Condensers, receivers, and Florentine flasks are now available plastic coated with a temperature- and chemically-resistant polymer, which offers excellent transparency for viewing contents.

The new glassware has been introduced to counteract the effects of implosion, which can sometimes occur if scratched or inadvertently damaged glass is placed under vacuum.

Acting as a safety screen, the plastic coating contains the glassware pieces and gives the operator sufficient time to transfer any potentially dangerous chemicals to a suitable vessel without spillage.
