Melting point apparatus incorporates safety features, such as the use of blue spirit instead of mercury in the thermometer, to make it suitable for use in educational establishments.

Stuart's new SMP11 melting point apparatus has several new safety features designed to make it ideal for use in schools and colleges.

The SMP11 has both a calibrated control system and a mercury-free spirit filled thermometer.

Unlike mercury, the low toxicity, brightly coloured blue spirit does not pose a health hazard and does not require special treatment if the thermometer is accidentally broken.

The SMP11 is the entry-level model in the extensive range of Stuart melting point apparatus, aimed predominantly at the education market.

With this in mind it is supplied with instructions printed directly onto the product, easy to use controls a maximum temperature of 250C and a price to match the smallest of budgets.
