Diagnostic unit analyses multiple
disease markers

Bio-Rad Laboratories has launched a test for syphilis for use on its BioPlex 2200 system

Bio-Rad Laboratories is a multinational manufacturer and distributor of life science research and clinical diagnostics products The BioPlex 2200 is a revolutionary diagnostic platform that employs multiplexing technology to analyse multiple disease markers from a single patient sample

Bio-Rad's novel automated multiplexing technology has been developed to streamline syphilis testing while maximising laboratory efficiency The BioPlex 2200 Syphilis IgG kit simultaneously detects three of the most clinically relevant Treponema pallidum (the bacteria that causes syphilis) antibodies using recombinant proteins in a multiplex format.

The new Syphilis IgG kit can be used as a diagnostic clinical screening system for past or present syphilis infection or simplay as a diagnostic confirmatory test.

"The release of the Syphilis IgG kit is another example of Bio-Rad's continued commitment to providing valuable tools that enable laboratories to improve testing methods, maximise efficiencies, and lower costs", said John Goetz, Bio-Rad vice president and group manager Clinical Diagnostics.

The BioPlex 2200 system is the first and only fully automated, random access multiplex testing system that provides clinical laboratories with the technology to rapidly process or 'multiplex' multiple individual tests, which are traditionally processed separately, using a single small volume patient sample.
