The new unit is a multi-mode 300W PSU that can operate as a dual supply with two independent and isolated outputs, or as a single supply of double the power

The EX752M, new from TTi, is a laboratory bench power supply offering both high-voltage and high-current capabilities The new unit is a multi-mode 300W PSU that can operate as a dual supply with two independent and isolated outputs, or as a single supply of double the power

As a dual unit, each output provides 0-75V at 0-2A.

As a single unit, the output can be selected as either 0-75V at 0-4A or 0-150V at 0-2A.

In single modes, the unused half of the unit becomes completely inoperative, and its displays are blanked.

Because of the higher voltages it can produce, the EX752M uses special safety binding posts which can accept spade terminals, 4mm plugs, or bare-end wires without exposing any metal parts.

To achieve a product compact and light enough to be suitable as a general-purpose laboratory PSU, the EX752M uses mixed-mode regulation technology which combines switch-mode pre-regulation with linear post-regulation.

Special techniques are used to maintain very high efficiency whilst achieving output noise levels that are close to that of a pure linear regulator.

This is achieved in a casing measuring only 260x160x320mm and weighing only 4.4kg.

Operation can be constant voltage or constant current with automatic crossover.

Individual DC output switches are fitted.

When the output switch is set to off, the current limit setting is displayed, enabling conditions to be set before the load is connected.

Line and load regulation are both better than 0.01%, and output noise is less than 2mV even at full power.

High-resolution controls allow accurate setting of voltage and current levels.

The EX752M incorporates separate digital voltage and current meters on each output.

The meters use bright 14mm (0.56-inch) LED displays, and have an update rate of 4s-1, providing near instantaneous response.

The unit incorporates full power-factor correction to minimise supply current harmonics.

The outputs are intrinsically short-circuit proof, and are protected against external voltages and reverse currents.

High power efficiency ensures that the unit remains cool without the need for a fan, thus giving silent operation.

The EX752M costs £449 (plus VAT) in the UK.
