Assay indicates severity of oral infection and is early warning system for many other complications linked to peridontal disease such as heart attacks, low birth weight babies, arthritis and diabetes

ALT BioSciences of Lexington Kentucky, USA, along with Biochrom of Cambridge, UK, have collaborated to commercialise an IVD chair-side oral pathology assay for the determination of bacterial toxins and inflammatory proteins in oral infections.

The analysis is based on the Topas assay produced by ALT BioSciences being used in conjunction with the new Topas analyser developed by Biochrom.

This combination provides a simple, rapid, inexpensive test to monitor oral health.
