State-of-the-art testing of nursery
equipment
In order to cater for the demanding needs of the nursery sector, BVCPS has expanded the scope and capacity of its UK testing laboratory, introducing a number of new state-of-the-art testing rigs
Alongside this expansion, the company has also further developed its nursery testing services in Asia, providing its UK and European customers with a one-stop global solution The new testing rigs will assist BVCPS's customers in ensuring compliance with the ever-changing nursery product standards, many of which are now directly called up as legally harmonised standards in support of the recently revised General Product Safety Directive (GPSD)

These new rigs test a number of products to European standards including pushchairs, baby walkers, cots, baby gates, reclined cradles and baby carriers.
For example, a number of the new machines are specifically designed to test pushchairs to EN1888, assessing handle dynamic strength and 360deg harness effectiveness.
Baby walkers have often been viewed as one of the more exposed nursery products on the market.

In recognition of this, BVCPS has invested in two new testing rigs which assess baby walkers to EN1273.
Both rigs assess if a baby walker is likely to tip or fall down stairs through a dynamic stability and step test.
BVCPS has also introduced a new rig dedicated to testing cots to EN716 and has improved its existing equipment for assessing baby gates to EN1930.
The introduction of the new rigs and the expansion of the UK testing laboratory enables BVCPS to provide its customers with a quicker and more efficient service.
As BVCPS now has the scope and ability to perform safety assessments on such a wide variety of nursery products in numerous global locations its customers will benefit from a complete worldwide package.
BVCPS provides its customers importing from the Far East with a unique client-based e-business system (BVcpnet) which enables desktop access to vital information, such as real-time sample monitoring, technical reports and specification manuals.
Nursery products are one of the most safety critical product ranges on the market, being designed for infants who are unaware of any dangers which may exist.
