Its introduction is an important enhancement to the comprehensive fertility testing panel available for the Advia Centaur, enabling users to consolidate a very high proportion of their workload onto a single automated platform.
The performance of Bayer's previous Estradiol method has been significantly enhanced in order to meet customers' needs for higher sensitivity and precision.
Antibody reagent has been added to the primary reagent ReadyPack in order to free up ancillary space on the system and reduce antibody wastage.
Sodium azide has also been added to the reagent as a preservative, thus minimising the possibility of microbial contamination.
"Independent studies have shown that there is now a vast improvement in the clinically-important low-end of the assay which will help customers avoid the frustration and expense of unnecessary test repeats" says Bayer's Advia Centaur product manager, Fiona Howe.
"Improved low-end precision also gives users the ability to report the start of a rise in Estradiol levels with absolute confidence." The Estradiol-6 III assay can be run in random access mode on the Advia Centaur alongside all other analytes on the system, enabling users to deliver an efficient and rapid testing service.
Seamless processing means there is no need to stop the Advia Centaur system in order to load samples, reagents or consumables.
Minimal sample handling and true walkaway capability enables laboratory staff to be available for other important laboratory tasks.
