Bayer Diagnostics, a division of Bayer Healthcare, has launched its latest critical care automated blood gas instrument, the Rapidlab 1200 analyser.
With results in 60 seconds or less, the high-throughput, low maintenance instrument provides the speed, accuracy and required up-time needed for clinical staff to make critical care decisions in a timely manner.
According to Bayer, Rapidlab 1200 offers a comprehensive test menu, including pH, blood gas, electrolytes, metabolites, and CO-oximetry - all from a single sample - that can be customized to meet all departments' individual needs.
Using the same cartridge-based technology as Bayer's Rapidpoint 400 analyser, the Rapidlab 1200 system eliminates unwieldy gas tanks and reagent bottles, minimising maintenance requirements and enhancing the analyser's ease-of-use.
Additional features include on-board, automatic quality control (aqc) materials (which are independent of internal instrument calibrators), allowing users to programme up to nine quality control checks a day.
The aqc checks are then undertaken automatically by the instrument, simplifying quality control processes, reducing labour and minimising human error associated with manual operator variability.
When integrated with Rapidsystems unit, laboratories benefit from centralized data control, system management and improved regulatory compliance, says Bayer.
