Free Software for viewing photomicrographs

A Carl Zeiss product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Jul 8, 2002

Permits images and saved image details, such as scale and recording parameters, to be displayed, printed and exported in various image formats

The AxioVision Viewer software for viewing photomicrographs taken and saved (zvi-format) with AxioVision software from Carl Zeiss, can now be downloaded free of charge from the Internet at http://www.zeiss.de/viewer.

The software permits images and saved image details, such as scale and recording parameters, to be displayed, printed and exported in various image formats.

As with the AxioVision complete version, the entire information is also available without restriction during image viewing.

For the first time, images saved with the AxioVision image documentation software can now be displayed, assessed, and printed by several users at various workstations without additional cost.

Furthermore, the software permits export to other image formats and Windows applications, including the creation of animated sequences (movies) from time series or z-stack images (avi-format).

Additionally, AxioVision Viewer offers the batch conversion of complete image folders to another format, eg, TIFF, a navigator function for a better overview of large images, a player permitting the display of time series and z-stack images as well as the combined printing of image and image details, and the printing of several images per page.

Alternatively to downloading from the web, the Viewer can also be requested on CD by contacting the division of microscopy at Carl Zeiss's UK office (contact details above).
