Faster production of fastest confocal
microscope
Demand spurs increased production of groundbreaking confocal system which allows the visualisation of very fast processes in living cells at speeds up to 200 times faster than possible before
Just months after launch, and in response to customer demand, Carl Zeiss has ramped up production of the LSM 5 Live confocal laser scanning microscope at its production site in Jena, Germany The high speed imaging and fluorescence capabilities of the new instrument have generated much interest, says the company, and new production logistics and increased production capacities are being activated to cope

"The all-round excellence of the new system made it the star attraction at our recent UK laser scanning user group meeting," says Aubrey Lambert, marketing manager at Carl Zeiss UK.
"Since then, it has also led the line up of laser scanning microscopes at our nationwide series of LSM Workshops.
"The reason is simple.
"For the first time ever, scientists can capture dynamic processes in living specimens with a time resolution down to one millisecond.
"It is a major benefit compared to systems offered by our competitors and provides researchers with fundamentally new possibilities for experiments in biology and medicine".
This groundbreaking confocal system allows the visualisation of very fast processes in living cells at speeds up to 200 times faster than ever possible before and was launched at a time of increasing focus on live cell imaging worldwide.
The quality, innovation and technological leadership of Carl Zeiss laser scanning instruments are widely recognised in the UK.
In a recent purchasing agreement for 13 UK universities, nine picked Carl Zeiss systems as their preferred choice.
