Cambridge technology speeds up tube labelling

A Cambridge Design Partnership product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Jan 6, 2010

A labelling technology developed by Cambridge Design Partnership has offered a 450 per cent increase in throughput for Abcam.

The method enables each tiny plastic vial of product to have a unique identifier and have a label automatically applied.

The companies worked together to design a novel tube-labelling system that rapidly applies and prints freezer-proof labels in a fraction of the time it takes by hand.

The device includes an integral barcode reader that verifies the identity of the product within the Abcam database and prints this information onto the tube in a single step.
