Flexible, high performance IR camera

A Cedip Infrared Systems product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Nov 15, 2004

Incorporating a range of technological innovations, the Silver 420 from Cedip Infrared System is said to set a new benchmark for thermal IR camera technology

The Silver 420 is a new IR camera based upon Cedip's proprietary high performance cryogenically-cooled staring focal plane array detectors.

The camera offers frame rates up to 100 images per second in full frame, and several kilohertz in sub-windowing mode, while maintaining high sensitivity of less than 20mK.

Built for operational flexibility, the Silver provides performance in the main MWIR waveband (3-5um) with a spatial resolution of 320x256 pixels.

The radiometric performance of the Silver 420 has been optimised to offer absolute temperature measurement with the highest accuracy available from this technology.

The extended dynamic range previously available as an option on Cedip Jade series cameras is now offered as a standard feature on the Silver series.

The Silver 420 has been designed to provide maximum compatibility and operational versatility with standard computers and third party image processing software.

The camera comes as standard with a USB2 output for controlling the camera, and a digital video output.

The use of this standard interface should ensure maximum user flexibility, facilitating easy integration with third party image processing software.

Additional lenses can be added through a bayonet mount, enabling the Silver 420 to be used for applications ranging from microscopic examination up to long-range measurements.

A removable filter wheel, entirely accessible to the user for exchanging filters, has been implemented for applications requiring multispectral filtering.

The calibration curves for Silver 420 camera can be determined and loaded directly from software, further extending the possibilities for research and development applications where flexibility is needed.
