CBA names its Diamond award winners
The UK Chemical Business Association (CBA) announced its Diamond Award winners for 2008 at a special ceremony in Manchester on Wednesday 6 February
The CBA's Diamond Awards celebrate excellence and outstanding achievement An audience of more than 150 of the UK's leading distributors and their guests saw the presentation of CBA's Diamond Awards recognising distinguished service; the European of the year, and the winner of CBA's Responsible Care Award

Diamond Award - John McKenzie.
The Diamond Award for distinguished service was awarded to John McKenzie, vice-president, sales and marketing, Univar Europe.
McKenzie is a former vice chairman and council member of the CBA's predecessor association - the British Chemical Distributors and Traders Association (BCDTA) - and a former board member of FECC - the European Association of Chemical Distributors.
European of the year - Danny De Cock.
CBA's Diamond Award for European of the year was presented to Danny De Cock, the manager of the industry's Safety and Quality Assessment System (SQAS) on behalf of Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council.
De Cock has been seconded to Cefic by ExxonMobil Chemical since 2002 and has been instrumental in the growth and development of the SQAS system which now provides a single assessment process for chemical distributors and logistics providers operating in Europe.
Responsible Care Award - BOC Packaged Chemicals.
CBA's Responsible Care Award aims to recognise a company that has made an outstanding commitment to the programme and taken a pro-active approach to Responsible Care.
BOC Packaged Chemicals is a member of the word-wide Linde Group which operates in 70 countries, employs 53,000 people and has annual sales of euro12.7 billion.
The company distributes gaseous chemicals in bulk and cylinder form to a wide range of industrial sectors - such as fine chemicals, food and beverages, water treatment, personal care, pulp and paper, metals and alloys, pharmaceuticals and glass manufacture.
The Responsible Care Award was accepted on behalf of the company by Martin Teller, BOC Packaged Chemicals sales and marketing manager.
