High throughput screening kit provides all the necessary components and instructions for measuring the IC50 values of up to 38 test compounds in 96-well plates

Cambridge BioScience has introduced the new 3A4/Benzyloxyquinoline (BQ) high throughput inhibition screening kit for the rapid screening of potential inhibitors of CYP3A4 catalytic activity It has been estimated that CYP3A4 (an enzyme of the cytochrome P450 system) is significantly involved in the metabolism of more than half of commercially available drugs

Consequently, CYP3A4 is frequently associated with metabolism-based drug-drug interactions.

Obtaining a clear CYP3A4 inhibition profile may be crucial to successful lead development.

In addition to its importance in human drug metabolism, CYP3A4 is of interest because of its unusual kinetic properties.

The inhibitor screening kit, developed by Gentest, provides all the necessary components and instructions for measuring the IC50 values of up to 38 test compounds (in duplicate) in 96-well plates.

The 3A4/BQ kit can be used in-conjunction with the 3A4/BFC kit to help insure the identification of all potential CYP3A4 inhibitors.

Rapid testing for cytochrome P450 inhibitors is vitally important in the pharmaceutical industry.

Screening allows the identification of adverse interactions between new drugs and the human metabolism early on in the drug discovery process, eliminating these drugs before expensive clinical trials begin.
