Cambridge BioScience has introduced the HPSA range from Chromagen for gene profiling analysis These gene expression assays directly measure RNA transcription for most cell types without the need for pre-purification of mRNA, the use of reporter genes or RT-PCR

HPSA (high performance signal amplification) is the integration of fluorescent chemistries and fluorescent spectrophotometry with microwell-based solid phase extraction chemistries for the detection of target molecules.
HPSA technology is particularly applicable to the detection of hits in high throughput screening laboratories.
Using HPSA assays, isolation, concentration and measurement of mRNA can be achieved in the same microwell plate, minimising the number of transfer steps.
Expression can be detected at high levels of sensitivity without expensive and labour-intensive target amplification.
The HPSA assays have numerous applications in the drug discovery process including: target screening and selection to identify potential therapeutic targets; cell profiling; drug lead screening and candidate optimisation; and drug metabolism and toxicology.
