Turbidity tester sees the light
Over the last three years Southern Water has installed over 80 automatic turbidity testers at sites around Kent, Surrey and Sussex. At the heart of each of these is a Crouzet Micro RPX 10 PLC.
Cat's laboratories and offices, spread across 6000m2, had to be fitted individually and at different times to minimise disruption.
The project was part of the company's recent relocation to Granta Park in Cambridge.
"The complexity of the project and the unique requirements of research laboratories meant it was vital that the partner we selected was able to meet our exact requirements, and on time," said Jon Green, vice-president of operations at Cat.
"Comunica has a reputation for excellent project management, and I'm pleased to say it has delivered accordingly." Comunica installed the Lansense Lan200 Cat5e from ITT incorporating Itracs capability.
Once Itracs has been fully implemented, the company will be able to track and manage the performance of its infrastructure and network equipment from a single point, on or offsite.
The system also provides a complete view of the network, which is updated in real time.
"The Cambridge Antibody Technology site is state of the art.
It requires a solution that is advanced enough to deal with a complex environment, but one that is easy to manage" said Richard Bell, executive director at Comunica.
"With in-depth experience implementing connectivity infrastructures, we understand the intricacies of working within such a set-up.
The project had to be meticulously planned and implemented because any mistakes had the potential to result in the loss of irreplaceable data.".
