Cole-Parmer unveils hand-held spectrophotometer

Cole-Parmer has introduced a hand-held visible range spectrophotometer designed to test liquids anywhere, including remote field testing, process plant, research laboratory or a university classroom.

The I-lab spectrometer is an instrument that allows users to capture and record spectral measurements in the 400nm to 700nm range.

It can be used for numerous spectral measurement applications including sample testing at source, rapid data collection and analysis, quality assurance and control, water quality testing, agricultural monitoring and for custom research methods.

The core optical sensor with integrated sensing enables accuracy and portability of this visible range spectrometer.

There is flexibility to allow for concentration, absorbance and sample comparison spectral measurements.

The I-lab Spectrum software runs on a PC and allows users to extract data from up to 500 samples measured with I-lab.

A 'live scan' feature enables users to capture data from a sample and import it directly into I-lab spectrum software.

The I-lab Spectrum standard software allows for spectra acquisition, data handling and method development, while the advanced version also features a multivariate modelling package for chemometrics and a vector spectrum matching function.

Disposable samples make sample collection easier and reduce the risk of cross contamination.

The Spectrometer weighs about 250g and runs on three AA batteries.

Output is bidirectional through USB and the display is a backlit LCD.
