The Chromaplex partnership and development agreement will further extend and expand Digilab's global competitive position in Raman spectroscopy.
Chromaplex is a privately held photonics company based in Rochester, New York, at the leading edge of developing/deploying optical technologies to facilitate advancements in the analytical instruments, life sciences and telecommunications industries.
In particular, Chromaplex's high dispersion gratings IP lends itself to the development of compact, low cost solutions that are required in the fields of proteomics R and D, security and forensics, and at-line/on-line quality control.
It is anticipated that during 2004, the Raman Engine will be incorporated into a quality control spectrometer, as well as the introduction of a combined FT-IR/Raman microscope.
The small footprint of the Raman spectrograph will also be effective for customers who require sample detection/analysis at the point of need.
"We are pleased to formalise our collaboration with the very talented engineers and technologists at Chromaplex and we are confident that the resulting Digilab Raman products will elevate the popularity of Raman spectroscopy by providing unique solutions at affordable prices", said Mike Fuller, chief technology officer of Digilab.
Robert Frankel, president of Chromaplex said, "Chromaplex is excited and honoured to be working with Digilab, a world class leader in spectroscopic analytical instruments.
"Together, we will provide a range of innovative Raman instruments to present and future Digilab customers.".
