Data Translation has announced its DT9853 Series of low cost USB bus-powered D/A modules optimised for use in harsh environments
Contrary to the popular use of USB modules in benign lab-type applications, the DT9853 series is fully isolated to +-300V and provides voltage as well as the industrial standard 0 to 20mA current outputs concurrently They operate as high speed USB devices for maximum speed and accuracy

The DT9853 Series of low cost analogue output and digital I/O modules for the USB bus offer the following features:.

- 16 dedicated digital I/O lines for dedicated external event synchronisation.
- Interrupt on change support ideal for monitoring and controlling critical signals.
- Output ranges of 0-10V, +/-10V, and 0-20 mA offer maximum flexibility.
- Scalable design for easy connection of high-channel count applications.
- 32-bit counter/timer for counting external events.
- Compact rugged enclosure for easy set-up and configuration.
- Calibration utility provides easy to use analogue output circuitry tuning.
The DT9853 Series of USB output modules are available in the following models:.
DT9853: 4 channels, 16 bit resolution with 16 digital I/O channels and output ranges of 0 - 10V and +/-10V DT9853-M.
4 channels, 16 bit resolution with 16 digital I/O channels and output ranges of 0 - 10V, +/-10V and 0 - 20mA DT9854.
8 channels, 16 bit resolution with 16 digital I/O channels and output ranges of 0 - 10V and +/-10V DT9854-M.
8 channels, 16 bit resolution with 16 digital I/O channels and output ranges of 0 - 10V, +/-10V and 0 - 20mA Many software choices for easy application development are available for the DT9853 Series.
All DT9853 Series modules ship with the Omni CD which offers a variety of software tools and libraries.
Additionally, other ready to measure software programs for test and measurement including the powerful easy to use graphical application program Measure Foundry are available.
