Automatic pH measurement ready for heavy duty

An Endress + Hauser product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Nov 16, 2006

The new generation of Endress+Hauser's Topcal S measuring, cleaning and calibration system makes fully automatic, economical pH and ORP measurement possible even in aggressive process environments

Economy, practicality, simplicity - with the new CPC310, you can look forward to a host of benefits from Endress+Hauser, it says.

Right from the start, you'll notice a significant reduction in the use of cleaning agents and buffers, since these are pumped through individual pipes to the new rinsing block.

In this way, all media is present at the front-end, directly at the retractable assembly.

You'll also find an important feature now comes as standard: two external valves can be activated for steam sterilisation or for using a spray flange at the assembly, with the multi-hoses easily connected to the retractable assembly.

However, the real cost-saving bonus is the fully automatic inline cleaning and calibration; there's no need to remove the electrodes, so minimal maintenance is required.

Topcal S is also a brilliantly simple construction - comprising just a few modular components - so it's easy to commission and is user-friendly.

The system can be operated and configured in the field via a plain-text menu, and settings and logbook data can also be easily transferred with the Dat memory module.

What's more, Topcal S comes complete with both fixed and user-definable programmes for process optimisation.

Even in hazardous areas, you can rely on early-warning functions to guarantee reliability and system performance, thanks to the preventive maintenance sensor condition check (SCS) and medium monitoring functions.

There is also a significant improvement over the previous generation: three independent, industry-tested double-membrane pumps now replace the old revolver pump.

This increases the unit's performance, particularly for heavy-duty applications and where aggressive cleaning agents are used such as concentrated acids and alkalis.

Fully automatic, Topcal S also meets the demands of the food and pharmaceutical industries where, of course, accuracy and hygiene are critical.

The automatic cleaning and calibration functions are complimented by an online validation function.

The high reproducibility of the calibration increases product quality.

The hygienic integrity of the system is also maintained and safeguarded, as the system remains closed during calibration and sterilisation.
