EMS offers high-precision tissue slicers

An Electron Microscopy Sciences product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Jun 9, 2009

Electron Microscopy Sciences has added the EMS7000smz and EMS5000mz high- precision vibrating microtomes to its product line for microscopy and histology.

Designed to produce high-quality slices of difficult material, the EMS vibrating microtomes minimise damage to tissue surfaces and produce slices of uniform thickness.

The competitively priced EMS5000mz offers a Z-axis deflection of 1-2um and a blade advance controllable to 10um/s.

The EMS7000smz delivers perfect sections, with sub-micrometre Z-axis deflection across a broad range of vibration speeds and amplitudes and enhanced longevity of performance through an advanced vibrating mechanism.

It is highly suitable for visual patch clamping preparations.

Both tissue slicers offer simple operation at the push of a button or a range of changeable and programmable parameters customisable to user preferences.

Tissue cooling is accomplished by the use of an ice-water bath or an electronically controlled thermo-electric cooler.

Other options include mountable LED cold lights, magnifiers and inspection microscopes.
