In a blind trial at the Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine (Item) this patent-pending technology was shown to outperform filter tips from all five other manufacturers tested, by a factor of up to 677 in relation to particle permeability and 600 in relation to penetration rate of biomolecules.
According to Monika Scheidel, Eppendorf product manager, this new product will be of particular benefit in the preparation of PCR and qPCR reactions: "Using EP Dualfilter Tips free of PCR inhibitors, human DNA and Dnase and RNase, eliminates the risk of contamination and therefore the need to expend additional time and expense in repeating experiments.
"Researchers can get high quality, reproducible results every time.
"EP Dualfilter Tips are ideal for liquid handling applications in fields such as biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular diagnostics, forensic science and pharmaceutical research, including 'hot labs' handling isotopes and radionucleotides".
Available in ten sizes from 0.1ul to 10ml, EP Dualfilter Tips are packaged in ready-to-use colour-coded racks and supplied sterile, Eppendorf PCR clean and pyrogen-free.
EP Dualfilter Tips are compatible with other manufacturers' pipettes, and used in conjunction with Eppendorf pipettes they ensure a leak-proof seal and minimum attachment and ejection forces.
Air flow rate through the dual filter is the same as for single-layer filters - rapid pipetting is simply much safer - and the sample is not absorbed or lost in the filter. Request a free brochure from Eppendorf UK ...
