EuroSciCon has announced the full programme for the upcoming meeting, "Future Advances in Regenerative Medicine" to be held on 13 June 2008 in Welwyn Garden City, UK

This event follows on from the successful "The current landscape of regenerative medicine" meeting held in 2005 This CPD accredited meeting will provide a snapshot of the current landscape in regenerative medicine, highlighting outstanding issues in translational biology

Key speakers from around the world will be presenting on a range of topics, including: Professor Nureddin Ashammakhi, Keele University who will be addressing the use of stem cells and nanobiomaterials in regenerative medicine to heal tissue by tissues similar in type.

Rike Zietlow, Cardiff University will discuss the potential for stem cell use in the treatment of neurodegenerative disease and development of effective transplant therapies.

The chair, Stephen Minger, director of the Stem Cell Biology Laboratory and senior lecturer in the Woolfson Centre for Age Related Disease at Kings College, London said in reference to the meeting, "Cell- and gene- based therapies are quickly progressing from the lab bench to the clinic".

"Restoration of damaged tissues in humans thus requires close and significant interactions between basic scientists, clinicians, regulators, biochemical and tissue engineers, and commercial biotechnology.".
