Nist traceable lead paint standards
These certified reference materials are useful to laboratories performing testing of environmental samples including paint, soil and dust for lead by atomic and emission spectroscopy
These products include four new Nist traceable lead in paint and soil standards produced by Research Triangle Institute (RTI International).
These certified reference materials are useful to laboratories performing testing of environmental samples including paint, soil and dust for lead by atomic and emission spectroscopy.
They can be used in meeting quality control requirements of the American Industrial Hygiene Association's (AIHA) environmental lead laboratory accreditation programme (Ellap) that accredits testing laboratories under the US EPA's National lead laboratory accreditation programme and as practice samples for laboratories participating in the AIHA's environmental lead proficiency analytical testing programme (Elpat).
The laboratories accredited under these programmes are authorised under US regulations to perform testing to assess the hazard from lead-based paint in buildings, ships and surrounding areas undergoing abatement procedures.
The RTI products are: LCS-401, blended paints from public buildings, contains 4430ppm lead.
LCS-402, lead paint, contains 600ppm lead (available February 2005).
LCS-301, northeast urban soil, contains 547ppm lead.
LCS-302, blended northeast urban soil, contains 5369ppm lead.
These certified reference materials are said to be ideal as spiking materials or as separate quality control standards for use during testing of paints and soils for lead.
They have been tested against Nist standard reference materials SRM 1579 (lead paint) and SRM 2704 (Buffalo River sediment).
Also available are ERM series Nist traceable lead free paint (<4ppm) reissue available in February 2005, lead free soil (<4ppm), lead paint (367ppm-35g units) and lead paint in soil (484ppm) and two non-Nist traceable lead paint in soil standards (558, 3395ppm) and one blank soil (8ppm).
The Nist traceable products are available in 50g units for $160/unit and the non-Nist traceable ones are available in 50g units for $60/unit.
