TurboGFP matures at high rate even in cool-blooded animals and can be used to monitor gene expression at the early stages of biological processes.
In vitro kinetics analysis of TurboGFP and EGFP (well-known mutant of Aequorea victoria GFP) renaturation from denatured/reduced state demonstrates considerable difference in the protein maturation speed: renaturation half-time is about 20 seconds for TurboGFP and is more than 20 minutes for EGFP, the company says.
In vivo examination of developing Xenopus embryos microinjected with vectors comprising either TurboGFP or EGFP under the control of CMV promoter revealed bright fluorescence of TurboGFP immediately after midblastula transition, when gene expression is activated.
At the same time, EGFP was practically invisible at this developmental stage.
Evrogen offers a set of TurboGFP expression vectors for different molecular and cell biology applications including promoterless vectors encoding either TurboGFP or its destabilised version with shorter half-life.
