Big improvement to the timeliness of
USGene

SequenceBase and Fiz Karlsruhe will publish on STN within three days of publication by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) - up to ten days faster than any other comparable resource

SequenceBase and Fiz Karlsruhe report that the USPTO genetic sequence database, USGene, on STN is now the most timely source of USPTO patent and published application sequence data - available within only three days of publication by the USPTO USGene now provides weekly updates on Friday

Weekly updates comprise USPTO issued patent data published on Tuesday, and published application data published on Thursday.

Issued patent sequence data is therefore available within three days, and published application sequence data is available within one day of publication by the USPTO.

USGene is now established as the most timely resource for USPTO patent sequence data, updating ten days faster than any other resource, they say.

USGene typically includes USPTO data one to three months ahead of the infrequently updated USPTO sequence collection provided by the NCBI as a part of the patent division of its Genbank database.

"USGene provides a unique searchable combination of biological data - sequences, organism names, molecule types, sequence ID numbers and feature tables - with the original USPTO publication text", commented Martin Goffman, president and CEO, SequenceBase.

"We are delighted to be able to bring this unrivalled USGene content to our customers even more rapidly than ever before".

"The unique combination of USGene with STN patent sequence databases DGene (Geneseq), PCTGen and Registry, gives life-science intellectual property professionals the ability to make business critical decisions with much greater certainty," said Sabine Brunger-Weilandt, president and CEO of Fiz Karlsruhe.
