A bright spot in Lims
Quarterly Lims newsletter highlights one product as providing "the ony bright spot" in an otherwise dull year for laboratory software
In the Spring 2003 issue of Lims/Letter, the quarterly publication for the laboratory information management systems (Lims) community, editor Helen Gillespie said that the introduction of Finna's LabAnalyst.Net software package was "the only bright spot"' during 2002 in the laboratory software industry In 'In the doldrums: a look back at 2002', Ms Gillespie wrote: "The Lims industry remained focused on 21 CFR 11 - the electronic records and signatures rule - as well as on Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELNs) and the continued connectivity of all things in the lab

But those topics didn't disguise the absence of new innovations in the Lims arena.
The only bright spot was the LabAnalyst.Net XML-based solution." Ms Gillespie, a previous Lims Award laureate, continued, "Finna Technologies introduced LabAnalyst.Net at the International Lims Conference 2002.
Built on Microsoft's.Net platform, LabAnalyst.Net is an XML-based Lims for small to mid-sized labs that is perhaps the first of the next generation of true XML-based solutions for the lab." "We are extremely pleased that a respected industry expert, especially one of Ms Gillespie's stature, recognises the importance of innovation in software," said Dan Souk, president of Finna Technologies.
"Clearly, though, technology for technology's sake is useless, and that's exactly why we have adopted the.Net platform..Net is fantastic technology, but it is also fantastically practical." Continued Souk, "We have worked hard to ensure LabAnalyst.Net meets many information needs of the lab, especially the need to grow, and we will continue putting the latest technologies to practical use solving problems for the lab." The Lims/Letter is a quarterly newsletter that highlights laboratory information management systems (Lims) issues in particular, and laboratory data management topics in general.
