Carat and stick

A Fischer Instrumentation (GB) product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Jun 27, 2003

X-ray systems can make measurements equal to the cupellation tests of the past to the same level of accuracy but in less than a minute instead of several hours

Accurately measuring the quality of gold and other precious metals can now be achieved in less than a minute with the XAN and XDAL x-ray systems manufactured by Fischer Instrumentation (GB).

Assay offices conduct this type of quality control and in the past have used the destructive cupellation method to measure the gold content.

Now they are finding that the new XAN and XDAL x-ray systems can make measurements equal to the cupellation tests of the past.

The same accuracies are achieved in less than a minute against the several hours taken by fire assay.

Other advantages are the accurate determination of other metals in the sample, giving a complete sample analysis.
