Gentech Scientific donates to WNY
universities
Three western New York universities, the University of Buffalo, Buffalo State College, and Rochester Institute of Technology, have been awarded a Perkin Elmer Sciex API III Plus LC/MS/MS instrument
These liquid chromatograph/mass spectrometry instruments will be placed in each university's chemistry department and will serve as an educational resource and research development tool "We are delighted to be receiving this donation of a Perkin Elmer LC/MS/MS system," said Scott Goodman, associate professor and chair of the chemistry department at Buffalo State College

"At Buffalo State, we currently do not have any LC/MS capability, so a donation of this type will be very useful.
"We will put an instrument of this type to work in undergraduate teaching laboratories.
"We also hope to use this instrument to support our research efforts and those of our colleagues in the Great Lakes Laboratories here at Buffalo State".
LC/MS/MS is a hyphenated analytical technique which separates compounds dissolved in a solution, and then those molecules are ionised and separated according to their mass-to-charge ratio (m/z).
Mass spectrometers are used in industry and academia for both routine and research purposes.
Major mass spectrometric applications include biotechnology (analysis of proteins), pharmaceutical (drug discovery), clinical (neonatal screening), environmental (water quality), and geological (oil composition).
"GenTech Scientific has grown to be market leader in the sale and service of new and refurbished analytical equipment and we are proud to support opportunities for higher education here in Western New York," said Tracie Brombos, vice president of operations at GenTech.
"We hope these instruments are successful learning tools for both current and future students".
Founded in 1995 as a gas chromatography and mass spectrometer service company, GenTech Scientific has evolved into analytical instrument refurbishment along with chemist support and service.
GenTech specialises in GC, HPLC, and mass spectrometers from all major manufacturers, as well as accessories and consumables for those systems.
As a global provider of analytical instrumentation and service, GenTech's goal is to make daily analysis more accurate, reliable, and valuable.
