The Desktop Archive is compatible with all GenPlate formats and has approximately the same sample aliquot capacity as a traditional freezer in about one-tenth the space.
With a maximum storage capacity of up to 1200 samples or 38,400 aliquots in a volume of about 57litres, the archive enables efficient storage of DNA and maximises DNA retrieval by allowing researchers to create aliquot sizes matched to analysis needs.
As with GenVault's Personal Archive, the Desktop Archive has no backup or electrical requirements but maintains GenPlates in a clean, dehumidified environment.
As biosample collections grow, the samples and data stored by the Desktop Archive can be fully integrated into GenVault's other storage systems.
Upgrading to the Personal or Dynamic Archive systems is as simple as transferring the GenPlate collection to the storage hardware of choice.
Similarly, the sample data stored in the Desktop Archive system is fully supported by GenConnect, GenVault's biosample management software system.
GenVault provides integrated archiving and retrieval for organisations managing DNA collections.
GenVault aims to serve customers including medical centres, academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and law enforcement agencies.
Future systems will also accommodate proteins and RNA to provide a comprehensive solution.
As a scalable and reliable alternative to traditional freezer networks and DNA purification systems, GenVault's dry-state platform enables the extraction, preservation and recovery of DNA at room temperature.
